Tolstoy?  I imagine you mean his pacifism?  I think Tolstoy may have seen
war as farce because of its pointlessness.  Napoleon conquers the world and
winds up isolated on an island.  There's irony if not outright cosmic humor
in that.  Likewise Hitler.  Perhaps now B... never mind.
