I assume it is just a warning, but a warning can be a pretty potent
deterrent to an ordinary Windows user. Quoting from the recent case:

'...  it's coming up with a 'Microsoft Office file validation ' message
and asks that I ask the sender to re save & resend, as the file looks
suspicious. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/advisory/2501584

Goodness knows why but I can't risk it. Could you re save & resend please?'
