Hi, I will start saying that I actually vote -1 on my ban. If you don't
consider my vote as valid you are going against democracy rules.
Also I will mention that I realized very late what has been going on, and I
received a partial judgment, people was very fast to decide this time
without leaving any time for me to reply. This actually shows how things
are handled differently with me.
I didn't want to defend myself, it was actually stippi that made me to
change idea, not for a precise reason, but I think I read in his words the
best interpretation of what happened.
Let me clarify that I never spoke myself about conspiracy theories. I
actually only said that I feel things handled very differently with me.
Since the topic here is me vs waddlesplash I will make some examples for
future readers, to know also my vision.
Stephan actually already asked me to revert a commit:

I don't see any particular difference in what I asked. But I was accused of
being unpolite. I had good reasons for asking the revert because this
commit wasn't reviewed properly. Now, the discussion gone south then, but
try to image myself in my pants. I never asked for a fix or a revert in a
commit, the first time I do it I'm accused of being bad for doing so.
But now, leave apart that, there were some certain fixes to do into this
commit. At least removing unneeded memsets and renaming Cleanup to some
more friendly to our naming convention. If I was the person committing or
authoring that commit, you all would have said me that I refuse to revert
commits and so on. waddlesplash being the committer should have fixed it
himself, or at least dealing with mt (the author) to upload a fix-patch.
Did anyone ask waddlesplash to take action? Then, it happens that after a
month, waddlesplash continue to commit other related fixes, still ignoring
the suggestions, still with unneeded memsets. Let leave apart that as
already stated, I'd have appreciated waddlesplash pointing me at that issue
(at that moment mail notifications weren't enabled and I just could not
know). If it was me, you all would have contested my behaviour, ignoring
people and so on.
Can someone explain what happened, if not a difference of treatment?
I have another set of discussions with jua, where him asked me to revert
some stuff and we discussed about enqueue lateness if being good or not.
Let leave alone, again, if I actually behaved differently in the earlier
post about media_format, I actually tried to reimplement what he suggested.
Only to find out that it actually was the cause of the "increasing latency"
problem. Then, I wrote an email in the dev mailing lists about that, I
didn't receive any reply. Sorry, it's time consuming to find all the
evidence, but if someone has doubts please ask me and I will provide links.
So I don't think the problem was to actually ask to revert it right? So I
don't see why Stephan accused me of being unpolite, just for asking to fix
or revert something that clearly had problems.
Now I want to defend myself on a few things that I read earlier. Before
all, I'd like to thanks DeadYak for being a so unfriendly person with me, I
still remember when in 2008 I asked about helping with vision, and I still
remember it's astonishing and net reply "no". He actually made really
little technical points during his reviews, most of them were actually
about style or control flow. So I don't really see where him had all those
"aggressive discussions" with me. Yes, sometimes I'm challenging, but my
impression is that him just don't accept if I ask for more explanations
about those (basically little relevant) comments.
I found that often people comment on my code without actually reading it. I
remember at least a discussion with Jua, where I forgot that under 64 bit
adds are not atomic and then fixed it. Then he replied that the code was
still broken, and I replied "Did you read the code?". I had another similar
discussion recently with waddlesplash where he challenged BMetaData, he
actually didn't read the code and I had a debate with him for 20 mins for
nothing. I also had two discussions with waddlesplash in the dev channel
about the media_format changes where I explained him in various ways why
those needed to be fixed. I think he tried to just challenge me, because as
said I didn't see any fixes.
Relating humdinger, as said I asked him sorry. But I want to restate
another time that when the haiku-web discussion happened he had called me
"social inept" in the public #haiku IRC, and yes I was really upset.
I want to add, that the impression of people not understand what I'm doing
has been always there for me. I could find various PulkoMandy's (and
probably some other people) montly reports where the description of what
I'm doing is quite incorrect. The same happens for the people at the Inc.
that should have reviewed my work during my contract, some of them admitted
understanding too little of my work to actually judge it. Sometimes I think
people comment about unuseful details, losing the whole image of what I'm
doing. Yes, sometimes I was bad with some people for various reasons (some
justifiable, others not), but I asked sorry for those events to everyone I
thought I had somewhat offended, for the rest I just tried to be polite all
those months, and I could name various people actually expressing gratitude
with me for the help, and various discussions that I kept technical.
I think I'd have a lot of stuff to say, but I'm probably going to bore
people, I will end that it's obvious the partial judgment received here. At
least two persons contacted me privately saying that they don't see a
reason to ban me. One of them was actually interested in working in a
metadata layer for Haiku, he is scared now and he decided to not contribute
to Haiku because he may be banned.
With stippi that seems to be a -1 and my vote (which again it still counts)
it seems the poll reverted the other way around. So now how you want to
solve this issue? I ask that the ban is removed.
