thats what i meant: its more immediately obvious to me how issues with
compilers affect "cross-platform-ness" than OS issues, precisely
because if things like this. if you can change the ABI with a
declaration in the code, then its pretty clear that GMPI has to
specify either "no such declarations", or "always use this
declaration" or something like that.
