Before you do that, I have a question, are you trying to import the
file into DBT as a print file?

If this is the case, trying to back-transcribe the file will result in
DBT performing a second transcription of the file into braille.

When importing a .BRF file into DBT, you must use the braille file
importer.  The settings for the braille file importer can be found
under the "Global Settings" menu by pressing <ALT+G>.
