We counted 45 species this weekend, which is three off of our record high count 
for the comparable weekend.  A Cattle Egret, scurrying around in a nearby 
tilled field, was a house-list first (now at 149) and our highlight for the 
weekend. Though, I guess, seven sparrow species is respectable.  
Among the expected-but-missing were Barn Swallows, Flickers, and Cooper’s Hawk, 
which have been unusually scarce here, this year.  
On the nearly-sure-but-not-sure-enough front, I had a brown swallow speed past 
me, this morning, on its way to somewhere else, that probably was a Northern 
Rough-winged.  Then, later this morning, I watched a pair of Buteos, which were 
nearly out of sight and heading away, when I spotted them.  They appeared to 
have banded-tails and I think they were Broad-wings… but not certain enough to 
count.
As of today, we have a Bluebird nest with two eggs and the Carolina Wrens have 
three eggs, in a lovely nest…in my oil waste pan, on the shelf in the garage!
