Our year-over-year lower numbers continued here with 40 species, which is
down from 47 last year. I saw a flock of 10 or so Pine Siskins (FOS) that
stopped briefly in the top of one of our oaks this morning. We watched a
FOS Black-throated Green Warbler in the bush garden and also counted a FOS
Dark-eyed Junco, yesterday morning (to make a six-sparrow weekend). Myrtle
Warblers continue to be abundant here. There were often 6-8 in view and I
don't remember ever seeing as many Ruby-crowned Kinglets as in this last
week.

I watched two Red-tails and a Harrier shadowing the combines as they
harvested soybeans, SE of the house, this afternoon. It was fun to watch;
they clearly recognized the opportunity for easy pickings.
