Huh?

No sisters that I know of. They don’t list any for us in the latest edition of
the family tree either, just got that a week or so ago, now it’s already
incorrect? Wow! I have a feeling Lee isn’t going to be to happy about that
*lol*. And he only lives about an hour from me, actually he is probably the
most normal person in our family since he lives there, and he wouldn’t have to
look to hard to find Piper to come ring my neck for us holding out information
about additioal females in the family *lol*. Or additional members anyway
*lol*.
Well there’s room in the binder to add people, so at least he organized it in
such a way that that can be easily done *lol*.

Responded to the wrong message. Had the right content, but Tom unless you are
hiding something from us I do not recall your sister being a member of the
list or even that you had a sister. *LOL*. I hear of sils, but not sure that
you have an actual sister.

Can effect download speed too in some cases, but more likely to effect
whoever is downloading from you. It’s an allowance of so much data going up
or down, after that point they slow things down. As a free user you already
have to deal with bandwidth restrictions because of the limits they put on
free users, well ones who sign into their accounts and then download that is
*lol*.

What exactly is bandwith? I think it has something to do with upload speed,

best.

In the pro plan it says unlimited, I have 1.4 T in mine at this point.
That will only be increasing. They also have a link about a drop box too,
but I don’t know anything about that. I don’t think it’s anything like the
dropbox the group folder is in.

Here's a question. If I bought a plan with SS, how much space would I get?

I looked into DB back before I ever purchased a subscription for SS, but
it seemed like they were more focused on the big players such as
corporations. There prices when I looked were outrageous. I may have been
looking in the wrong area or they may have introduced new price plans I
do not know, but when I did decide to purchase a plan I went with SS
because of the wizard and because I had heard many positive things about
it. I did not give much consideration to DB because of the thought that I
still had to keep a file on the computer and that the price was too high
for what I needed. If I ever grow unhappy with SS then I may reconsider,
but for now ss is doing the job that I need it to and I do not want to
transfer all the files that I currently have up there somewhere else at
this point in time.

Also with Mac you can choose to save to dropbox,Sort of like in the
windows context menu where it says send to dropbox. So I don’t think you
have to retain the file on your machine itself anymore. Of course if you
throw a file in the trash that you see in DB it is deleting that file.
So in that way it now works like SS. I did a test document and just
saved it directly to DB, so therefore it didn’t keep a copy on the
computer because I did direct save. So if I want a copy it would be like
an outside file of having to copy and paste then.

So that is a game changer as far as I’m concerned, because when DB is
uploading by itself it’s a lot faster than Sendspace. It also crosses
all platforms, Mac Windows and Linux where it’s quite accessible once
found and installed, whereas Sendspace wizard is useless in Linux, they
don’t update it, and if you even do get it compiled right, it’s not
accessible with Orca.

So now part of my little brain is thinking of exploring DB as a viable
storage option verses SS. Just as SS really becomes accessible with it’s
wizard, but still, I am considering it seriously. Will have to explore
their terms with a paid DB account, I don’t think it’s much different
financially.

I’m not sure you have to retain the copy on your computer anymore Josh,
I haven’t tested the theory, but I think it may actually retain on their
servers now. Thats why when a larger file goes into DB it will show
almost instantly, but in the menu extras on the mac it will show an
upload progress for DB. So I will test the theory, but I think it
actually is stuff on there servers like SS does now.

I guess what I like about SS is I do not have to keep a copy of the
document on my computer. I use Drop Box, but usually just to get
documents from the iPhone to the computer and vice versa with relative
ease. I purchased a tablet a while back to get use to the Android
platform and when I purchased it I got 50GB of free space on Dropbox so
that was nice.

I prefer dropbox myself. It's fast, it's easy, and I use the NVDA
add-on with it too so it makes it a lot easier. Speaking of dropbox,
I'm listening to the zomby game. Pretty cool. I have some games I could
demo too sometime. And other software also.

It’s been a pretty good back up storage place for me especially back
when we were still using the old Mac because it only had 40 gigs
storage on the hard drive. Well it still has that, we just don’t use
that machine much.

I have not gotten a chance to listen to the letter, but speaking of
SS I deactivated my account for a short period of time. If you ever
decide to do that make sure you can move your stuff within 30 days
because lifetime storage is only a benefit if you are paying them.
That makes sense, but their website was not real clear. I reactivated
and just went ahead and paid for 6 months so I do not have to worry
about it for a while.

Okay here’s Stacey’s latest letter on SS in the archive.

https://www.sendspace.com/pro/dl/sn3wkr
<https://www.sendspace.com/pro/dl/sn3wkr>

I also have a letter already in the group box in DB, but am waiting
for it to go up to SS yet. SS decided it wants to upload a different
folder first, and won’t let me pause it to start the letter. So that
will probably be a little later today because I don’t plan to stay up
all night while it loads this one folder. So SS users will have to
wait a little bit. Once i have a link you all will have it too.
