The Huntley Meadows Monday Morning Birdwalk hosted 10 birders on this cool,
clear morning. We spotted 35 species, with the highlight being a Merlin seen
hunting in the area west of the tower. Other notable sightings included a
fairly large flock of Eastern Bluebirds, 5 of the 7 Woodpecker species found at
Huntley, and about 15 Yellow-rumped Warblers. Noted also was the absence or
low numbers of American Robins, shorebirds, and herons. The latter probably
because of the lack of water in the wetlands.
