Nine birders made up the Huntley Meadows walk this morning. Neither the fierce storms of the night before, nor the threat of still more rain hampered these dedicated birders from their pursuit. The storms, however, might have dissuaded the birds, as there were only 41 species sighted. The water levels in the central wetland were as high as have been seen in several years, and evidence of waves of water washing over the boardwalk testify to the ferocity of the storms.
