As one might expect, the Monday Morning Birding Group encountered vast numbers of sparrows this morning. In addition to the standard Song, White Throated, and swamp sparrows, the 14 birders also saw Fox, Lincolns, and possibly a White Crowned, although we didn't count this as the ID was too "iffy". Our species count was down (33), but we attribute this, in part, to the time changeover. This morning we began effectively an hour later, and thus missed many of the very early sightings (crows, perhaps owls) that we routinely had all summer. Our non-bird sighting was a Red Fox just inside the tree line off the boardwalk. We were pleased to note that this fellow looked healthy and fit.
