Just make sure the diagnostic fee is not also a Check. -Ed- Tel-Tek Electronics teltek3@xxxxxxxxxxxx Ontario-Canada -----Original Message----- From: techassist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:techassist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Paul Sent: Wednesday, August 04, 2004 1:31 PM To: techassist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [TechAssist] Re: bad checks?? Hi Larry From the replies so far, it seems we have all been taken at one time or another. If your in business, of just about any kind, for any length of time, you have to deal with people who take advantage of you if they can. As you can see there is no" one way" to deal with your situation. I have usually written it off the few I have had in 25 years, as a bad debt. Reason being that most of the other effective alternatives, are more costly in the long run. If you have the time and the inclination, and you use a work invoice that has a repairman's lien clause in it, and if you have a law enforcement agency that is willing to help, you can can take possession of the equipment till the bill is satisfied. However this may not prove to be profitable in the long run either. One other thing if you don't get a diagnostic fee up front, you might want to start. At least you have some thing for your effort.
