The laws are different state to state, but NY has some petty good ones.
By statute you can charge up to $25 max per return item.
You have civil or criminal remedies or both if the "perp" refuses to pay
after the protest process.
Better yet, you can ask triple damages plus costs if you end up in court!

Needless to say, i have very few bad checks...
