You people are funny.

A Rollei list, a moderator who purports to be strict to keep things on topic, most of the 150 posts that appeared within the last day have no OT mark, and funnyest of all is that not one of you is qualified to practice law!

The only lawyer present here hasn't bothered weighing in on the thread.

Entertaining.

Hi Austin -

Then for the benefit of the rest of our readers who are likely not so
conversant in US Estate Law, let's get accurate information out there.
The tax to which you refer only effects the very wealthiest of all
Americans, the top 3-4% I would guess. The US tax structure is
basically a progressive one, and those who are able to pay more are
generally called upon to do so with their income tax, property tax,
and estate tax. At least that the law intends.

Hi Eric,

I know all too well what it pertains to, as my parents are both dead, and we got hit significantly by it. No matter who it effects, it's wrong. Very
wrong.

Austin

Austin -

Inheritance tax in the US only pertains to the small number of top
percentages of estates and not the vast majority. As such it conforms
with the progressive tax structure...

Hi Frank,

So, you should not be able to hand what you earned/worked for
down to your
children? The government should get most all of it? Here in
the US, they
already get near %75 of it (initial taxes, plus %50 inheritance tax). I
disagree very very very strongly with that. I worked for
it/earned it, and
ALREADY PAID TAXES ON IT, and I should be able to do with it
what I want, at
least within my immediate family.

I would. The only tax I approve of is inheritance tax. 100%. Not
practical i know, but -earned- income should be un-taxed and
something you get by luck, without work, heavily taxed.
Simplistic.

Why not have copyright end with the death of the original

If your going to just give up your intellectual property to the
state why
not also give up your cameras and homes as well?
