If the issue is staffing, that we can solve. If I can get 3 other adults to help over the two days (you know who you are, yes I'm talking to you), I will get older kids and youth group adult leaders to staff the rest. Yes accept this as me officially volunteering to help set up the mini-range.

If the issue is 'kids want to launch with the big guys", is a non issue, have the mini-range for newbies and groups that don't want to wait in the longer line. Want to launch with the 'big guys' go ahead. I'm thinking that the mini-range would only be going during prime time, not all the time.

Safety, The issue here is would they forget to pay attention to the other launches. i think this could be solved with training / instruction. Have the adult make continuous announcements about it, plus to repeate heads up calls from the PA system. They will need to keep an eye on what is going on at the main launch and stop for bigger projects or action on the closest pads. Even if it just went in parallel with the front row it would speed things up.

Got a couple of polite emails (thx) and a no-so-polite one. :P tongue

I've been in ROC on and off since 1997. I did not pull the idea of a separate LPR missfire alley out of thin air. ;)
Its in the archives. I've been told:

1) "Who'll staff a low power area?"
(Mike? <grin>) Oh heck I'd take my turn! :) Maybe even train some scout leaders?

2) "Who'll tell them heads up if a larger rocket is heading their way?"
(Radio link - air horn? :) ). And a good size buffer zone

3) "Kids WANT the adults to see their rocket. They don't want to be separated from the 'Big Guys'."
This one I can not solve.
