I had a Sola CVS Model # 23-22-125-4 this unit is design for a 120 volt
250VA which equals approximately a 250 watt 120 volt bulb. Its dimensions
are L9" W5" H7" and weights 27lb. I bought it for $30 surplus. It worked
great. I now live off the grid and it turns out ferro-resonant technology is
dependant on having a stable 60 cycle true sine wave current, therefore I
now use Metrolux timers. These timers do an excellent job of adjusting for
voltage induced lamp brightness variations by lengthening or shortening the
exposure. On my condenser enlarger I use a Variac transformer that allows
adjustment to the voltage. I run a reduced voltage to extend the life of the
large Durst 138 bulb, as they hard to find and expensive. The Sola CVS was
of little value on my Cold light enlarger because light output is effected
by bulb temperature and voltage change.

Sola transformers are still made. At the power level
needed by the enlarger they are not too big. They regulate
very well and, BTW, offer the best filtering for line
transients available short of a true UPS, excellent for use
with computers. I have one for my enlarger and use others
for, for instance, stabliizing the power to a short wave
receiver.
The main problem with used ones seems to be failure of
the capacitor. These are not hard to replace and caps are
available.
