Hi guitarman,
Thanks alot! I will try but now I am wondering do I have an ethernic card,
is there an easy way to see? Also can I set a system restore point just in
case I mess something up and cannot go online with my dialup account?

Cristy,
Most broadband access doesn't require all of the junk they send along
with the hardware. If there is a router in between the computers and the
cable modem, the modem only communicates with the router and couldn't care
less about what the router does with the data. The router then sends the
data to the requesting device (usually a computer that's part of a network).
Cox Cable is no exception to this. For complete instructions on setting up
your system (or making sure it set itself up correctly), go to the following
link.

Once the page loads, select Connectivity from the "Select Main Topic"
area. When the Sub Topic area appears, choose your operating system form
the list. Finally, type the word connect into the search box at the bottom
and click on the Search button. In the resulting window, click directly on
the #2 topic called "How to: Set Up TCP/IP for Windows XP". The resulting
window will guide you through everything you need to make or check the
connection. After rebooting, you should be connected.
As I mentioned in my previous post, if you also want to be able to
connect to the other computer in order to share files, let us know and we'll
let you know how to enable that as well. Just remember that whatever you do
for this connection will NOT interfere with your Earthlink connection at
home. :O)
