Cristy,
    Does your relative have a router or switch OR does her cable box have 
one integrated in the back of it?

    If she has that, does your computer have an ethernet port in the back? 
It looks just like a telephone jack, except that it's 8 wires wide instead 
of 4.  If it does, all you'll need is an ethernet cable to connect your PC 
to her router/switch or cable modem.  This new ethernet network connection 
would not hinder your ability to return to Earthlink dial up in any way.

    If any of these items are missing, you would need to purchase them.  If 
it comes down to making a purchase, give a yell and we'll explain 
everything.
