I do have a new Sony DTV but am unable to check it's receiver performance
due to having no OTA signals, unfortunately....

Ever since the 5th-generation receivers, reception at my apartment has
generally been fine.

But there IS the occasional video or (worse) audio dropout, something I
never experienced with analog.
