Modulation is a factor in available product. Look at the 80 STBs offered by 14 different manufacturers in a country with fewer than 10 million TVHHs, vs.what you find in any store here.

Yes, there are integrated sets that are just now being offered that are value priced, but Australia had sub $150 STBs for the past five years, thanks in whole to the modulation. Therefore, they have a five year head start.

Obsessing over modulation when modulation is not a factor just means
that whatever is actually wrong with OTA TV in the US won't get fixed.
