The voices on the Stream are vastly scaled-down versions of the RealSpeak voices. The ones included with JAWS sound considerably better. They are not, as I have said several times now, meant to replace Eloquence.bruce -- Bruce Toews Proud JAWS User Skype ID: o.canada E-mail and MSN/Windows Messenger: bruce@xxxxxxxx LiveJournal: http://masterofmusings.livejournal.com Web Site (including info on my weekly commentaries): http://www.ogts.net Info on the Best TV Show of All Time: http://www.cornergas.com On Mon, 1 Dec 2008, Jeffrey Schwartz wrote:What is the advantage of this alternative to eloquence and the voices. I think that two of them are the same as the ones available on the Victor Stream Reader. It's the only thing that I don't like about it. Tom and Samantha sound like they are choking. -----Original Message-----From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On BehalfOf Roger Levine Sent: Monday, December 01, 2008 2:13 AM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: Jaws 10 and RealSpeak Solo direct voices Hi, You do not need to save the FT download , just run it and you will beprompted to hit the install button and the module will go to the right place within the FS Folder. The FS Daisy Basic Training is very helpful with thistopic. Even so, I still need to ask these questions. Thanks. I'm using Jaws 10. I'd like to install one or more voices from the RealSpeakSolo Direct page at the FS site, but I don't understand what I'm supposedto do. When I click on the FTP link for a voice, I get a common download dialogue. Fine. First of all, do I want to run or save? if it's Run, what happens? Andif it's Save I want, then in which folder of my hard drive should I placeit ? And then, how do I actually install it and get it working? I used to use Jaws 9, and I installed the old RealSpeak voices from the Jaws 9 CD, and they all appeared in my Say All item on the Configuration Manager Settings menu, and I knew how to get a voice working as the default Say Allvoice or, if I preferred, to set it up so that if I pressed Alt key Insertdown arrow instead of the regular Say All command, the voice would kick in. So I have that experience. But I can't figure out how to install one or more of the new voices. this. I hope my question is clear. Thanks for any assistance. -- JFW related links: JFW homepage: http://www.freedomscientific.com/ Scripting mailing list: http://lists.the-jdh.com/listinfo.cgi/scriptography-the-jdh.com JFW List instructions: To post a message to the list, send it to jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send a message to jfw-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.
