I agree.  I certainly don't have any voting rights but if could make a plea to
not follow everyone down the totally flat UI route?  The bas relief (in my
opinion) of Haiku is one of its endearing features.

I also prefer the extra padding... not sure why but it just "looks"
better in my eyes. Cramped is a good word here.
As most screens are HD / Wide, what benefit does removing the left/right
padding offer?
Thanks for making this comparison. We likely could use some more
solid style-guidelines around this stuff.
