Apparently people are having a lot of problem merging branches. The branching system in svn always confuses me, and it looks like it always goes wrong at some point.

Anyway, there is a matter of taste to take into account, because the workflow always bends depending on the available tools. That's why starting with the bridge allows us to switch to hg but get back to svn if there are problems. If we see that 90% of the core devs switch to hg, then it's likely time to drop svn :)
