    A synopsis of last night:

The group of lower-level riders (Sonya, Ilana, Kilian, Sinjen and
Quincy) had descended below the surface of Sigil, making their way into
the sewers to retrieve the dagger that Sonya had used when she murdered
the paladin of Pelor, which was the first step in recovering her soul.
They had been given information by a wererat, including the information
that a group of clerics of Mask had already passed that way, seeking the
same dagger.
The group descended into the sewers, but soon realized that the
wererat was spying on them. Kilian discovered that it was no wererat at
all, but the astral deva Alustrel, who the party had encountered weeks
ago at the Golden Bariaur Inn. She said that she was testing them, and
was going to come along, although she would not interfere. Nervous and
uncomfortable, the party continued, until they discovered a huge magical
door. It seemed impervious to normal methods of opening, and even
attacked the group, but Sonya managed to open it, apparently because of
her recent conversion to good and her attachment to the deity Pelor.
The door actually disappeared, revealing a mighty creature covered in
armor, apparently a servant of Pelor.
Alustrel immediately attacked him, revealing herself to be a fallen
deva, cloaked in an illusion to disguise her true nature. The party
rushed to help the creature Alustrel was fighting, but matters were
complicated still more with the arrival of a cleric of Mask (wielding
the dagger that the party sought, which had grown to the length of a
sword) and four undead she controlled. A furious combat ensued, with
the party and the servant of Pelor fighting against Alustrel, who were
all fighting with the cleric of Mask. The cleric of Mask spoke not
once, and it became apparent that the sword/dagger was controlling her.
Anytime she was knocked out, she would disappear, and the sword/dagger
would clang to the ground. It would then attempt to suck the life out
of a nearby person and use that to recreate the cleric. At one time, it
sucked the life out of Ilana, killing her.
Eventually the party triumphed, and Sonya grasped the dagger, but
not before the mortally wounded Alustrel, in an attempt to destroy the
group, snapped her own neck to unleash the power of her own
destruction. Quincy teleported the party away with his cloak, except
for Sinjen, who was shielded by the servant of Pelor. The explosion
brought the sewers down, and the group, believing Sinjen and the servant
buried, returned to the Green Mill Inn. There Ambrosia resurrected
Ilana, and Sinjen arrived, cloaked in the armor of the servant of Pelor,
who gave his existence so that Sinjen might live. And that's where we
stopped.

I'll do my thoughts in a separate e-mail.
