[dungeoncrawl] Tuesday morning review

Yeah, I know, it isn't Tuesday. I was out yesterday, and have been
playing catch-up today, but I wanted to send out some info from Monday
night. We did not play at all; we simply discussed the new campaign
world and the gods that rule it.

The campaign world was the world with the Saviors of Cormyr
originated from (and am I the only one that finds their adventuring
company's name incredibly ironic, since they obviously couldn't save
Cormyr from what eventually destroyed it, along with the rest of the
planet?). However, when the Riders took over the world, it was
reformed. It now looks completely different, and in some ways,
functions differently. Here are some of the facts about the world that
we have decided.

Currently we are focusing only on one main continent. It is mostly
wooded, with a few large cities and some mountains. It has some seas,
but no monstrous bodies of water. To the south is a desert area.
The people of this world know only that a great cataclysm of some
sort affected their world about a century ago. All records of life
before the cataclysm were destroyed. As the remnants of the people that
lived on this world tried to rebuild their homes, they were visited by
men and women of great power. These people began to help them rebuild
their lives, and then, when the people had sufficiently rebuilt, these
great beings went to live in the celestial city of Elven Flow. These
beings became their gods.
Drow on this world are good. They do not live underground, but
instead live in the deepest parts of the forest, as the protectors of
nature. They retain their abilities, due to the darkness in which they
live.
Dwarves are almost unknown on this world. They were an afterthought
when the world was recreated, and are not represented by the deities.
Amrikol has used this oversight to subvert them to his cause. Most
dwarves are evil beings, who live deep underground.
There is a floating city, which Zolkiir has created. It used to sit
atop a mountain range, but it was detached by Zolkiir during the Great
Cataclysm (or so the legends say). This city is kept afloat by magic,
although the exact nature of it is top secret. The entire city is
actually a giant university, which serves as the greatest center of
learning on the planet. It is not easy to get to, but if one can, they
can study any subject on the planet.

All deities have been invited by Dennis to live in Elven Flow (Most
of the good and neutral ones have accepted, and even a few of the evil
have.) It is on another plane, but there is a portal from the world of
the mortals (although it is nearly impossible to get to). The city
looks like an idealized version of the town that the Riders inhabited as
mortals. The old castle sits on a hill, and serves as the meeting spot
for the gods. Most of them maintain residences in town that mirror the
ones they lived in when they inhabited Elven Flow.
There are currently no major religions devoted to the elemental
gods, although they do exist. There are no demihuman deities currently
represented in the world.

I will be sending out the new list of gods shortly.
