I repair mostly TV's. I had one CTC177 with a bad diode in the 15 volt
line causing intermittent video. The voltage was dropping to 11 volts
and the diode tested good out of circuit. All this proves is that we
all have different experiences with what repairs we get in. Just like
very few techs have ever changed a flyback in a CTC169 chassis. I have
replaced 3 in 8 years.

You're joking right, or you don't work on TV's right? You have never had
a
CTC169 with a bad CR4118 causing dead or intermittent or color problems?
Something is not adding up here, has Google sent customers in here with
us
Techs? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have never had one cause a problem. What voltage line is CR4118 on?
Should I be replacing them when I have never seen one fail?

Please put Make, Model (or Chassis), and Problem in subject line. Then
email
can be filed Automatically, Thanks. CR4118 should go without saying. Of
course it will fix intermittent operation. That is the first part we
change
on all CTC169's regardless of customers problem. I would think all shops
would change this on all CTC169 repairs, we do, don't we?

Don't know if this will cure it but it has been recommended by many
techs to replace CR4118 (RCA # 164590 or FR302 generic)in every CTC169
that comes into the shop, whether it appears to be OK or not. This diode
causes a lot of strange symptoms.
