Nothing is for sure but the chances are far greater that a new diode of same or better specs should out-last one thats already been running in the chassis for 8 years. I usually install a diode that is rated with better specs if I have one. MUR4100E is one I like to use. Rated 1000V, 4 Amp, 75nS . Compared with the FR302 which is what I received in an original RCA parts bag, rated at 100V, 3 Amp, 150 nS I can't believe there are still some who don't replace this diode when a 169 comes into the shop. It's only been suggested about 100 times on this email list for all sorts of symptoms. Now a bit of a twist on the question. If a CTC169 comes into the shop that you replaced CR4118 a few years back, you do replace it again?
