I have a bet that it is going to be one of the worse years for cold and
snow. Mother Nature is fixing global warming :0) There has been a lot of
Volcano
activity and when all the smoke and ash is spued it cools off the planet.
After
Mt. Saint Helen's blew we had a couple of cold years in Oregon and Washington.
I
remember husband Kent was salvaging a barge in Alaska and it was in the 50's I
was in Oregon without power for a week and in the grips of an ongoing Ice
storm.
The kids and I sat and watched the power transformers blow up all over the
city.
I have always had power back up and that house had 2 huge fireplaces which were
a blessing.
Now we just fly south for the winter. It will be in the high 70's today.
To make this GSD related, this life style seems to make my 3 GSD's blow coat
year around :0)

I have just finished the worse three days that anyone can imagine. Yes.
I've lived out here for 55 yrs,had many snow storms with 4 ft of snow and
minus 40 below,but at that time Lake Elmo only had 3000 people living here
We now have 30,000 people ,and apparently our Electric company didn't
keep up with the maintenance for the increase. Anyway it was a bad storm
--wet heavy snow and high winds. I lost three trees and many branches from
others,and since last Friday ( it's Monday now) was without heat ,water and
electricity of any kind. the Temperature in the house dropped to 40 degree,so
bundled up in old ski stuff that I had long ago, put away. Every time you'd
call the electric company,they would say they couldn't get to Lake Elmo
for another day--that Mankado had 40,000 without power,while Lake Elmo only
had 32,000. I guess it was wide spread around the whole state. After 24
hrs of that,I had my son try and hook up my Dog show day's generator to see
if at least we could get some heat in the house. He is a whiz at stuff
like that .
He got it going ,but could use it for only the furnace,but at least we
got it a little warmer in the house ,So with using flash lites,we survived
until everything came back on at 6 PM Sunday night,. It was a long 3 day's
without use of water,no heat or lights. Needless to say, no computer
use,so if anyone emailed me in the last three days, I wasn't able to
communicate . Right now it is 8:15 Mon AM and now to fix all the clocks again
and
David to get out the chain saw and start on the mess of trees outside. Helen
