I am going to shout.
EVERY SINGLE GSD I HAVE MET IN THE LAST SEVEN YEARS, AT SHOWS AND THROUGH MY
WORK (with one exception, he needed training long before I to to him, it was
too late then, he had become dangerous) HAS BEEN SOUND.
I am very pleased with the condition of the overall temperaments of our dogs.
Why just yesterday I trained a dog named Ranger, who was from a breeder of
some elk in NC, and he was sound. In control of the pack, but otherwise sound.
He did growl at me several times, but it has worked so well for him in the
past that he had to try and try to be sure I would not give. Each time I moved
him to a new position and did what it was that got him to growl before. The
real trigger was the owner. Every time she talked about what made him growl,
he would growl. She tensed up and he got protective.
I found him quite pleasant and workable. He just needs calm leadership.
My dogs are great, my Mom's dogs are great, all the GSD's owned by my fellow
club members are great, I am not meeting spooks or agressive dogs like I did
years gone by. I am very glad to see our breed so well behaved over all.
