What you describe - a long period of labor and the bitch tiring out - does make
it a medical issue. That was not how the question was asked.
"how many of you schedule a c-section for your bitches when it is not
required, just to save the bitch the misery of whelping?
I believe she was quite specific.

Knowing Jodi as I do, I know she would not schedule a c-section strictly for
convenience...I have been there with her for all night deliveries. She has
never had a c-section on a bitch unless medically necessary. Sometimes asking
the list a question can get you slammed :-) I just had a 25 hour delivery with
a bitch, and yes, I did get nervous and start to feel I was wearing my girl
out. This is a bad feeling to have at 3:00 a.m. Sometimes, when the bitch is
getting quite large, we wonder if we should save the bitch from tremendous pain
& exhaustion, and possibly save the lives of some of the puppies. Not a
stupid question to ask when you are worried about your bitch. It is sometimes
hard to word certain questions correctly when emailing....it's much easier to
talk to a breeder friend and voice your fears and concerns. That's exactly what
Jodi is trying to do here. Lets help one another on here....this question did
not come from a backyard or
inexperienced breeder, but
from a breeder who would do anything for her dogs, and I have seen her go out
of her way for the comfort and care of her dogs.
