You should be able to tell your inkjet printer to print in B&W
only. Once done youcan keep an empty or near empty color
cartridge installed with no problems.

Thank you that is what I needed to know -- I went into Printer
set up and changed it to B&W only. Now all I'll need to do is
keep buying the black ink cartridges.
I can do this at a local place which refills so long as you
bring back the cartridge. I like using him because I get more
copies from his refills than from the new ones. He adds more
ink.
