Yup. It took broadcasters awhile to get that horse back in the barn, but they did so with flair!

The 1992 Cable Act gave the congloms the tools needed to "stop this signal theft" AND to build a new empire on the backs of the MVPDs.

Not to worry though. Why would anyone in NYC pay $12/mo to access OTA broadcasts that they already get (and pay retrans fees for) via their cable and DBS subscriptions?

MVPD subs in NYC are hovering around 7 million out of 7.5 million TV homes...
