Hey everyone, This is my plan for English Days this week, in order. This is my first year with these kiddos; I have three classes two Spanish 1 (majority freshman) and one Spanish 2 (majority sophomores). OWL was present last year, but not fully implemented the whole year w/all levels. Kids were excited their previous teacher and I teach the same way! Buy in is great far & they're a great group of kids. Spanish only is difficult for them, but I use a language use system worth 5 pts a day; a ticket a week and self assmnt at end of the wk to hold them accountable and reflective. Does anyone have an indicator test for MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES AND/OR LEARNING STYLES P.S. Tess, can you send me the levels of teaching and learning for Spanish 2, please? For us it includes * a survey / debrief / discussion of the first week(s) * brainstorm norms for the class and establish as a group * Syllabus * ACTFL PPT (attached the one we use) * OWL PPT / discussion (haven't finished our new one) * Comprehension exercises: we read an article in portuguese and talk about how they could still understand parts of it, they read an article in English with 2/3 of the words blacked out and we talk about how they can still understand it. Point is they DON'T need to understand everything that is going on... * TED Talk(s): How we learn, Think twice &Speak Once, and Speak from Day One * Goal Setting Hope that helps. :) Tess On Thu, Sep 12, 2013 at 10:41 AM, Hannah Pratt <hannahpratt@xxxxxxxxx<mailto:hannahpratt@xxxxxxxxx>> wrote: hi joanna, i do just one day: i show the powerpoint explaining the OWL method & outlining the ACTFL proficiency levels, and we set goals. then we go over the syllabus. this year i did it over 2 days, with each day 1/2 spanish (at the beginning) and 1/2 english. cheers, hannah On Thu, Sep 12, 2013 at 10:14 AM, JoAnna Coleman <joannac@xxxxxxx<mailto:joannac@xxxxxxx>> wrote: Hola OWLers - how many days do you dedicate to doing English week stuff?
