I have found through experience that most times it is cheaper to purchase the best you can afford rather than be dissatisfied with a "deal" six months or less after purchase. I am sure that the mini can run all of your current applications but tomorrow/next week/or whenever a new application will be released that you just must have but unfortunately the min specs will be above the mini, the same thing will happen to the G5 iMac or Intel iMac just that it will be next year or whenever. Everybody has to balance their wants with their pocket book and the rational decision for you will be different from another.
