>without it, people will not be able to share their calendars, tasks, meetings, etc. JUST to clarify that statement, you CAN share these things without Exchange, via Net Folders (done that) and a few other claborative means. It's just much EASIER and straight forward to do it if you have an Exchange Server in place running the show. ;-) Dian Chapman Technical Consultant, Microsoft MVP & TechTrax Editor Tutorial web site: http://www.mousetrax.com TechTrax Ezine: http://www.mousetrax.com/techtrax/ Word MVP support site: http://www.mvps.org/word Microsoft support groups: http://support.microsoft.com -----Original Message----- From: mso-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:mso-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Linda Johnson Sent: Monday, May 20, 2002 8:52 PM To: mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [mso] Re: Microsoft outlook 2000 Exchange Server is special software needed to run the shared parts of Outlook on a Network....without it, people will not be able to share their calendars, tasks, meetings, etc. It also allows you to have an inTRAnet where you can send mail internally without using the internet (tho there are other ways to do that also). If you have Exchange Server installed, your Network Admin will know....if you don't have a network admin, then I'm guessing you don't have Exchange Server LOL Linda Publisher ~ ABC ~ All 'Bout Computers Owner ~ Linda's Computer Stop http://personal-computer-tutor.com/main.htm Author/Teacher ~ MS Office EBooks/Classes http://personal-computer-tutor.com/services.htm -----Original Message----- From: mso-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:mso-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of lexi16 Sent: Monday, May 20, 2002 9:25 PM To: mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [mso] Re: Microsoft outlook 2000 hmm well what exactly is and excange server? Is there one in service there? If not, there is also the Net Folders approach. I have never tried this so it will definitely be an experiment for you unless someone else here has some experience with it. I'll do a no-no and paste the Microsoft step-by-step for doing this as I find it difficult to improve on the MSKB Good luck!!
