Bill,

So you have some useful central vision and can see stuff like this? That's
bound to create some ludicrous realizations, such as what you're describing
below. I assumed that this, like some other things we hear Jaws tell us
("this page link/skip to body of page," for instance) is coded into the page
but not visible. But this block quote stuff actually appears on the page
visually? How weird!

But one question, which is, just how is it you think that the block quote
announcement "helps some people?" this is what I was inquiring when I asked
if anyone knew what the original purpose of the feature had been. Sorry if
I wasn't writing clearly. I wonder, what people, under what circumstances,
is it meant to help?

thank you,
Daniel

I think that the block-quotes feature can be helpful for some people which
is why I'm glad this is an optional adjustment. But what I hate is that for
some reason unbeknownst to me, someone will send me an e-mail that might
have text copied from a website and right there in black-and-white I see the
words printed "block quote" at the beginning of the text, or it might say
"block quote, six columns" or some other state, which might take up two or
three lines on its own, and it's annoying to see that especially right in
the middle of the text. Why this is even PRINTED in the document instea of
just spoken by JAWS is a real mystery to me. I can understand JAWS speaking
it since it's something that's recognized on the screen, but WHY it's
actually printed as if I'm reading JAWS speech output on screen, is
something that I don't have an answer for. Any takers?
