Bill,
I read with my eyes for over fifty years,.  I think I said in an earlier 
post that I understood all this.  Read back, if you will.  I described these 
things as only someone accustomed to literally seeing them could describe 
them.  But I also said, what's up with block quotes in email replies and 
even original messages?  I'm saying that sometimes it seems Jaws is picking 
up coded cues that actually aren't relevant in this way at all, and that 
seems annoying to me.  That's all.

Yardbird,

For those of us with some sight, indented text signals things like sidebars,
footnotes, perhaps an explanation note that amplifies on something that was
just said, etc. Sometimes indented text is just that way to give it
emphasis. There are many reasons for indented text, some more useful than
others. JAWS cannot differentiate those purposes, so it treats all of these
blocks in the same way which will have varying degrees of help.
