Whoa there, once we hit beta we'll have to open up an R2 branch.
Technically we already have started some R2 features such as 64-bit
support. We're certainly getting closer to R1 now. Once we're through
Ingo and Oliver's contracts and GSoC 2013 (assuming we get in) we
should really buckle down and seriously start talking beta.

Remember this document:
https://dev.haiku-os.org/wiki/FutureHaikuFeatures outlines what are
"must have" R1 features. Wifi and package management were voted must
have, everything else is pretty much a "nice but not required"
feature.

But, if Ryan wants to start working on Deskbar for R2, I say let him,
it's a perfectly valid project at this time. We are going to need to
come up with some guidelines at some point though so we don't run into
a "second system effect" where we try to fix all of the deficiencies
of the previous system at once. I prefer evolutionary advancement over
sweeping improvements. Sure, they don't look as sexy on paper, but,
real improvements gets made in the process.
