Another point I think we should note is the possible distinction between R1 changes, and R2 changes. Some of these ideas are much better suited for post-R1 perhaps? I tend to think that R1 is supposed to be the modern update of BeOS, sticking close to the original, whereas after that we are free to break from that mold and go with more drastic design changes leading into R2.
