It's sensible to allow it one at a time as the dog can become a bit overwhelmed at times, or some can anyway.

My dog was great, she did everything but talk, (grin). she would walk with anyone, as long as I was around, but, when I was not, she balked. I allowed the children to pet her after she was setting down, but only one at a time. I loved the visit, and I know the children did also.-----Original Message----- From: J Kimbell Sent: Thursday, June 06, 2002 5:29 PM To: guidedogchat@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [guidedogchat] Re: school visits We arent allowed to let others try our dogs as far as I know but I am a registered speaker and do the talks. they are good fun. This is a wonderful experience for you and the students. when I gave a talk, I always took my dog. The children were messmerized bythe dog, and listened intently to me. I told them about my experience at the school for guide dogs, then how the dog works. Demonstrations are a must. they really get excited, especially if you choose someone from the audience to try the dog out. This is, if your dog will tollerate someone else using it. I had a wonderful German shepard that loved kids, so it worked out well. You will find this a wonderful experience. Do it, by all means. Have fun.fay from Missouri -----Original Message----- From: pam Sent: Monday, April 07, 2014 3:32 AM To: guidedogchat@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [guidedogchat] school visits i am going to a school on wednesday to give a talk on guide dogs. justwondering if anyone else has experience with this and if so any tips? thisis my first visit. thanks. pamSent from my iPhone-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No virus found in this incoming message.
