Q 7.1.1: Do we support interleaved or mono buffers?
c) Either, as requested by the plugin. Plugin chooses one (global or
per-stream).
(C) gets my vote. If I understand this right: plugins are free to implement
mono if they want, and hosts have to deal if so. This is fine for me, as a
host developer.
