2839 was leased to Southern Railway during the late 1970 and early 1980s as
part of its steam program. Other excursion service was contemplated but not
carried out. It was and is in private hands in the U.S.
The other preserved Hudsons are as follows:
2816 - Standard Hudson (H1b) displayed at Steamtown in Bellows Falls VT and
Scranton PA for many years until repatriated by CP for active service.
2850 - Royal Hudson (H1d) at Canadian Railway Museum/Exporail in Delson/St
Constant, Quebec. Never used in excursion service.
2858 - Royal Hudson (H1d) at National Museum of Science and
Technology/Canada Science and Technology Museum in Ottawa. Never used in
excursion service.
2860 - Royal Hudson (H1e) used regularly by BC Rail, now by West Coast
Railway Association.

I was browsing photos of Royal Hudsons on RailPictures.net last night, and
was surprised to find pictures of one on the Southern Railway in excursion
service. Other than 2860 on BC Rail, did any other railroads - tourist or
other - purchase these locomotives from CP?
