I THINK Jackie's POINT IS THAT FAR BETTER TO GO TO A HOTEL THAT
MAKES YOU FEEL WELCOMED, THAN GO TO ONE THAT ONLY HAS YOU IN BECAUSE
THE LAW SAYS IT HAS TO.

if you don't accept a challenge then surely you are not helping to
pave the way for access for guide dogs.

Hello Jackie
I've never needed to fly with my dog and when on holiday, one
of my friends will look after her and I rely on my sighted husband to
sighted guide. Mostly this suits us well, but there are times when I
miss the freedom of being able to go where I want when I want. My long
cane skills are very basic and I feel very self-conscious using one
(probably because they are so basic - smile)!
Locally, I know the cafes which welcome (rather than tolerate)
my dog so prefer to spend my money there and if I am planning to meet
a friend in an unfamiliar restaurant, it just seems to work better for
me to call beforehand rather than spoil the experience by being
challenged.
