As I recall from my days as a failed law student, for a contract to exist there has to be an offer and an acceptance.

Hi Derek,

This is different. What I said was that the contract is not entered into
until you actually place the order. If you ring them and say the price is X
and they say no it's Y, you haven't actually ordered, so the contract is not
entered into. But as you say, once ordered, then you have a contract as far
as I am aware.

All the best

Hi Steve
So what if a web site shows £50 price for a computer.
Customers clicks and place order.
After the order placed, business says: "price on web site is a
mistake.
Correct price is £300"

Would the customer have to either pay the corrected price
or cancel order?

Hi,

Not until you order. If you order at that price, then yes, but before
you order, no contract is entered into.

All the best

Hi,

I thought if something was advertised at a certain price that the
company had to fulfil and honour the stated price.

Mike

Does anybody know what is going on with the Talking Newspaper and
Magazine Service?

Today I visited
http://www.rnib.org.uk/services-we-offer-reading-services-national-tal
king-newspapers-and-magazines/newspapers-andvisited

and saw that I could pay £16 for a subscription to Private Eye.

However when I tried to place an order today via the helpline I was
told I would have to pay £49.20 for this and that the website was
"outdated!".

Luckily I had checked the price before ordering.

I have asked for a Manager to ring me back about this but 2 main
questions are obvious.
1. Why are they creating such problems by allegedly maintaining
"outdated information".
2. How can a Charity possibly justify this 300% level of increase in
subscriptions?
