David,
I recently order Private Eye and it is only available via memory stick or CD and cost me £15 extra as an already subscriber to their NTNM service. I have asked for ages that they get Private Eye as a text download but the Eye seem to be resistant to this thinking we might distribute its contents around! They have ignored my request when I've written to Heslop, a disgrace!
I'd be interested how RNIB respond to your situation with the price - it seems crazy! Something we're all having to get accustomed to sadly and it won't get better in the next five years either! (frown).

Kind regards,

Paul

Does anybody know what is going on with the Talking Newspaper and
Magazine Service?

Today I visited
http://www.rnib.org.uk/services-we-offer-reading-services-nationa
l-talking-newspapers-and-magazines/newspapers-andvisited

and saw that I could pay £16 for a subscription to Private Eye.

However when I tried to place an order today via the helpline I was
told I would have to pay £49.20 for this and that the website was
"outdated!".

Luckily I had checked the price before ordering.

I have asked for a Manager to ring me back about this but 2 main
questions are obvious.
1. Why are they creating such problems by allegedly maintaining
"outdated information".
2. How can a Charity possibly justify this 300% level of increase in
subscriptions?
