Radnor Lake State Natural Area
Davidson Co.
Nashville, TN
Thurs. 4 May
7:15-9:30am

Got back from AZ yesterday and so skipped work today to make
a morning visit to Radnor Lake. I did not get as early as
start as usual since waking up at 6:30 am today was 4:30 am
Tucson and body time. I had to recalibrate my ears
to eastern bird songs and calls. Thick clouds were all around
but no rain. I walked from the West Parking Lot to Long Bridge
and back. A ranger told me that Walden's Puddle had released
a COMMON LOON on the lake a day or two ago, but I did not see
it.

I saw or heard 11 species of warblers with a TENNESSEE singing
as soon as I stepped out of the car. Also in evidence were
plenty of SWAINSON'S THRUSHes and VEERYs. A SPOTTED SANDPIPER
was bobbing at the dam. I enjoyed hearing ACADIAN FLYCATCHERs
and seeing a BLUE-HEADED VIREO for the first time this season.
All in all a nice morning.

Birds of interested included:
Spotted Sandpiper 1
Yellow billed Cuckoo 1
Veery 4
Swainson's Thrush 9+
White-eyed Vireo 4
