And, the all my systems are cluttered up in my living room. Only thing next
to it is my 40-inch tube TV, and even that is at least 6 feet away.

I wouldn't have thought so..assuming you use 'safe handling' practise when
doing it, I don't really see how simply handling drives  would cause any
damage.

Maybe they just don't like you??:-))
