To do an index, you would have to mark index entries 107 times. Quite a lot of
markups to do.
It seems that you have all your 107 names in Heading 1 style. In this case, you
can view your document in Outline View by clicking on the View Menu, then
Outline. You should see the Outlining toolbar. It has about 6 different kinds
of arrows and + and - symbols on it. Your document will have + and - signs to
the left of your headers. Try selecting Show Level 1, then Show Level 2, etc.
on the Outline toolbar to see which selection will hide the report body
paragraphs of each person and show only the headers (or names). Then highlight
all the names and sort normally.
