-Emphasis- I think you really want to use an index -- that's what an index is by definition. There's probably nothing to prevent you from putting an index at the front of the document except, perhaps, expectations. -End- Ok, I am sold. I am all for it now. I created a tiny document with three names on it, and created the index in FRONT. It worked. Then I saved it, closed Word, and shut the computer down. Rebooted later, opened the file, but the index is gone. I was able to rebuild it easily, save it and close. But when I open it again, the Index is gone. Is there a step I am overlooking? Saving *should* preserve the Index, right? Thanks.
