Marcy, though I feel for David, I'll and I'll admit, he and I do not get along in the least, having said this, my heart still goes out to him. I'm not at all insinsitive of a person, know that up front.

With that out of the way, though I don't wanna clog the list with this thread, allow me to say one thing and then I'll leave it alone. Is there any evidence that we have that he was indeed robbed? I definitely am not saying that I don't trust you, nor him. MOst likely he really was, but just know, anyone on e-mail can say I was this, I was that. It can be believed or not. Again, no no no, I'm not saying I doubt him nor you. I truely believe what you say really did happen. It's not my right nor place to judge nor doubt it. I'm just simply very respeftully, or so I hope, asking how we know for a definite of proof that this really happened. I'd be happy to help where I can, but I can't do that within having some solid evidence that my helping really is for a true legitimate cause.

I'm sorry if this offends people. I can't please everyone, and I'm positive this probably is gonna piss off a ton of people, especially David, but know my heart is there, I just wanna be absolutely sure of what we're doing. And really, this day in age, can you honestly blame me?

Chris.

Subject: [mac4theblind] David Poehlman, long-time list member, was robbed, read on

Hello, all,

David Poehlman, a member of this list, was robbed last week. Stolen were not 1 but 2 computers, a Macbook and an even newer Macbook Pro 13-inch. Also taken were a Braille display and his magic track pad.

These items are quite valuable to any owner, but even more so in David's case. He is a disability technology consultant, and those computers were his lifeblood. He has helped countless persons with all issues mac-related, including I'm sure many on this list, as well as providing invaluable information to all of us on all things mac.

I am hoping that we can gather as a community to help David. I am looking for ideas as to how we can best aid him so that he can continue to carry on his work. My thought was that we could gather together and donate money so that he can purchase a new computer, or we can purchase one for him.

Please write with your ideas. You can write to me off list at:

I know that I can count on you, the list members, to step up to the plate as you help a fellow member who has been so terribly violated, and thank you in advance for responding.
